At the helm of FDi Engineering is our Director, Dan McKinsley – a man who doesn’t just lead from the front, but from the shop floor, the CAD screen, and occasionally, with a welding mask on. With over two decades in the precision engineering industry, Dan combines deep technical expertise with the drive to push boundaries and challenge “that’s how it’s always been done” thinking.
Dan’s engineering journey has taken him through some of the UK’s most demanding sectors – from aerospace to automotive, marine to medical. His experience has taught him that the key to delivering exceptional results isn’t just in having the right machines (though he’ll happily talk your ear off about those), but in having the right team, the right processes, and the right mindset.
When FDi Engineering was established in 2023, Dan’s vision was clear: to build a one-stop engineering partner capable of taking on the complex, the critical, and the downright awkward projects other companies shy away from. Today, that’s exactly what FDi delivers – from CNC machining with micron-level precision, to coded welding, bespoke fabrication, and complete mechanical assembly.
Ask Dan what sets FDi apart, and he won’t just tell you about our ISO 9001:2015 certification, our purpose-built Dorset Innovation Park facility, or our cutting-edge capabilities. He’ll talk about trust, transparency, and tackling engineering challenges like they’re puzzles waiting to be solved.
Under Dan’s leadership, FDi Engineering isn’t just growing – it’s evolving. The focus is on smarter processes, stronger partnerships, and a commitment to quality that never wavers. As Dan likes to say, “If it can be made, we’ll find a way to make it better.”
